Tech: The Sincerest Form of Flattery

Video games are not immune from the "follow the leader" type copycatting that you see in television and movies. It's human nature, I guess - you see your neighbor prospering and you inevitably want a piece of the action. A few recent stories highlight this tendency:

First up are the rumors that "Guitar Hero IV," the latest sequel in the popular rhythm game series, will feature not just guitar controllers, but also vocal tracks and other instruments. Hmm. Sounds more like a band. A rock...band.

Another rumor that just refuses to die is the not-so-secret Wii Remote ripoff that Microsoft is reportedly developing for the 360. Frankly, I think we'd all be a lot better off if Microsoft put half the effort into 360 quality control as it has in this new controller. While my Halo Edition 360 seems to be working fine, you just never know when disaster will strike.
