There are a few approaches to blogging about roleplaying games. If you look up my past "Running a Call of Cthulhu Campaign" posts, you'll notice I try not to get too in-depth with my game or the characters in it; instead, I focus on universal tips and strategies that will work for almost any pen-and-paper RPG. I've decided long ago that no one wants to hear about the weapon proficiencies of Jelgan, your level 17 gnomish necromancer-druid.
Jonathan Drain shares my RPG blog methodology. That is, he covers all sorts of D&D-related topics, but mostly in a general way. Not that he never gets into specifics when they're funny or illustrative, but the blog never turns into some glorified virtual journal of his campaigns (if you want to do this, more power to you, but it then becomes an extension of the campaign, not a place for people to comment and add their thoughts).
