News: All sorts of waffling

Billy Donovan, who announced he was leaving the Florida Gators to coach the Orlando Magic on Friday, had a change of heart over the weekend and decided to return, hat in hand, back to the University of Florida. Magic fans were pissed, UF fans were elated, and the newsmedia had a quick bite at the apple of schadenfreude.

I don't blame Billy for backtracking - it's a decision that basically changes his whole life, and possibly his family's life. I do think, as a law student, that he should probably pay some money to the Orlando Magic to help them find a replacement for him - at least compensate them for the airfare and press conference announcing his hire.

In other news, the Democratic debates were held a few days ago, too, with the Republicans up tonight. I hate to take sides in the whole mess, because I'm not really enamored of the front-runners from either party, but one thing is certain - Edwards and Clinton shouldn't be criticized for voting to authorize force, at least not by Obama. Last time I checked, Obama wasn't a U.S. Senator when the resolution passed the Senate, so it doesn't even make sense for him to point fingers.
